What are the hours of operation?

We accept private event bookings 7 days a week from noon to 9pm, call or email a head of time to book your event. Please note that facility hours are variable, so if you want to come by and check out the space, call or email in advance.

Do I need AXE throwing experience?

The simple answer is NO. Our trained coaches will facilitate your AXE throwing tournament in a fun and safe environment. Every participant is given practice throws with expert guidance and ongoing instruction. Our coaches will have you hitting targets and high fiving in no time!

How many people are required to book a private event?

The minimum requirement to book a private event is 6 participants on weekdays and 8 on weekends. This guarantees a comfortable number of people to run tournaments and a nice mix of throwing and socializing. If you have less than the minimum people you can still have your own event (but it is a charge of $45 per person for the minimum number of required participants), or try our Wednesday pick-up nights every week.

Can I book a pick-up night any day of the week?

Pick-up nights are currently scheduled every Wednesday at 6pm-8pm and Sunday from 2pm-4pm. You are unable to schedule your own custom pick-up night, instead consider a private event any day of the week.

Are kids allowed to participate?

All spectators are welcome. In order to participate in AXE throwing events competitors must be at least 18 years old unless they are supervised by a parent or guardian.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and debit Interac. Event deposits and league registration payments are also accepted through our online booking system through credit card and debit Interac.

Can we bring our own food and drink?

We sell non-alcoholic drinks and snacks but you are welcome to being your own food. We do have a few preferred caterer that hook up good deals and great food so if you’re looking for food delivered to your event let us know and we can help organize. What kind of people book AXE throwing events?

Contrary to popular belief a bearded face and tattoos are not prerequisites. AXE throwing is an ideal event catering to Corporate Functions, Birthday Parties, STAGs and friends looking for new experiences. The relaxed, fun and competitive nature fosters team building and good times.

Is there parking?

Yes, there is lots of free street parking and some on-location parking spaces in-front or behind the AXE Throwing Calgary office.

What skill level is league competition?

Since AXE throwing is relatively new to most cities, most league participants will be new to the sport. Join a league to try it out!

How safe can AXE throwing really be?

AXE Throwing Calgary conducts all events in a supervised premise, facilitated by a trained professional. Safety training is engrained in all pre-tournament practice. As well, the facility is designed to ensure a comfortable and safe throwing environment for all participants.

What clothing should I wear?

A loose fitting top is recommended for comfortable upper body movement. Your footwear should have good traction for stability. Closed toed shoes are mandatory. No sandals or flip flops, and high heels are discouraged.

Can I get there by public transit or the C-Train?

AXE Throwing Calgary’s location is conveniently located in the SE for easy access from the downtown and most south Calgary locations. The closest C-train station is Chinook.

Can I bring my own axe?

For sure. Just so it’s fair for other participants, make sure your axe is no longer than 16 inches and weighs no more than 2 lb. Wood handle or one-piece steel forged are acceptable. Premium one-piece, steel forged Estwing axes may be purchased at AXE Throwing Calgary for your throwing pleasure.
