What are your hours of operation?

We accept private event bookings 7 days a week from noon to 9pm, call or email a head of time to book your event. Please note that facility hours are variable, so if you want to come by and check out the space, call or email in advance.

Can I drop-in any day of the week?

Drop-in nights are currently scheduled every Wednesday at 6pm, and Sunday at 2pm. All times outside of scheduled drop-in are private event booking only.


How many people are required to book a private event?

The minimum requirement to book a private event is 6 participants on weekdays and 8 on weekends, or the cost equivalent. This guarantees a comfortable number of people to run tournaments and a nice mix of throwing and socializing. If that doesn’t work for you, no worries, try our Wednesday and Sunday drop-in times every week.

What kind of people book AXE throwing events?

Contrary to popular belief, a bearded face and tattoos are not prerequisites. AXE throwing is an ideal event catering to Corporate Functions, Birthday Parties, STAGs and friends looking for new experiences. The relaxed, fun and competitive nature fosters team building and good times.

How safe can AXE throwing really be?

AXE Throwing Calgary conducts all events in a supervised premise, facilitated by a trained professional. Safety training is engrained in all pre-tournament practice. As well, the facility is designed to ensure a comfortable and safe throwing environment for all participants.

Are kids allowed to participate?

All spectators are welcome. Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Minors between the ages of 14-18 must have 1 adult per 4 children for supervision.

Do I need AXE throwing experience?

The simple answer is NO. Our trained coaches will facilitate your AXE throwing experience in a fun and safe environment. Every participant is given one-on-one training, expert guidance, and ongoing instruction. Our coaches will have you nailing bulls-eyes, and high fiving in no time!

What skill level is League competition?

League is for everyone! Our League of Extraordinaire Lumberjacks caters to people of all skill-levels. Our League is focused on improving your skills no matter what level you are. We strive to promote and provide a fun and safe environment, where we can all enjoy a drink at the end of the night.

Can I bring my own axe?

For sure. Just so it’s fair for other participants, make sure your axe is no longer than 16 inches and weighs no more than 2 lbs. Wood handle or one-piece steel forged are acceptable. Premium one-piece steel forged Estwing axes may be purchased at AXE Throwing Calgary for your throwing pleasure.

What clothing should I wear?

A loose fitting top is recommended for comfortable upper body movement. Your footwear should have good traction for stability. Closed toed shoes are mandatory. No sandals or flip flops, and high heels are discouraged.

Food & Drink

Can we bring our own food and drink?

In general, no. We encourage the use of our “Lumberjack Lounge” where we serve up tasty eats and cold drinks. However, there are special circumstances, such as birthday cakes, so check with us first.

Can we BYOB?

Sorry – BYOB (bring your own booze) is not permitted; however, we have a fully licensed bar that offers several Big Rock beers on tap and our house brew ‘lumberjack lager’, as well as some mixed drinks. If you have any special drink preferences for a private event, please contact us to see if we can accommodate.

Do you offer food, drinks and liquor service?

Yes, we are a fully licensed establishment. We offer oven cooked pizza, pretzels, meat pies and various sweet and savoury snacks. As well as, drinks, alcoholic beverages and several Big Rock beers on tap. Try our in-house lumberjack lager anytime for only $5 bucks per pint.


Is there parking?

Yes, there is lots of free street parking and some on-location parking spaces in-front or behind the AXE Throwing Calgary facility.

Can I get there by public transit or the C-Train?

AXE Throwing Calgary is conveniently located in the SE for easy access from the downtown and most south Calgary locations. The closest C-train station is Chinook.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, most major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and debit Interac. Event deposits are also accepted via credit card through our online booking system.
