FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions and answers about AXE Throwing Calgary and our services. If your question is not answered below, please get in touch.

General Info

What are your hours of operation?

We operate on a booking by appointment basis, which means we’re not always at the facility. Please note that facility hours are variable, so if you want to come by and check out the space call or email in advance.

We accept private event bookings 7-days a week from 11 am (or earlier with enough notice) to 9 pm, call or email ahead of time to book your event, or reserve a spot for drop-in.

Can I drop-in any day of the week?

Drop-in nights (previously called pick-up nights) are scheduled every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 7 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm. All times outside of weekly scheduled drop-in times are reserved for private event bookings only.

The event will start promptly on the hour and run as a guided event for 2 hours. Please arrive before or as close to the start time as possible to receive the best experience.

How can I join a weekly scheduled drop-in?

Drop-in nights are scheduled every Wednesday, Thursday, Friday at 7 pm, and Sunday at 2 pm.

You can either book in through our online calendar, or contact us to register. We do allow spot holds to guarantee your spot on the roster, but you must pay in advance to receive the $5 discount per person. There are 20 spaces available for any given drop-in.

Please arrive before or promptly on the hour to ensure you do not hold up the group or miss out on coaching and throwing time.

What is the difference between Drop-in and a Private Event?

What a great question! A Private Event is for groups of 6 or more, while Drop-In is for groups of 5 or less. A Private Event will include your own dedicated coach and  4 lanes, whereas drop-in will be open to other small groups who will share one of our expert coaches and 4 lanes.

Are Children and Minors allowed to participate?

Of course! Children above the age of 8 are more than welcome to throw. Any younger and they will have difficulties with the sport, or just not enjoy it. Trust us, we’ve tried.

Children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a Parent, Legal Guardian, or Chaperone. All Minors must have a Parent or Legal Guardian sign the liability waiver on their behalf. Participants must demonstrate the ability to follow AXE safety & best practices policy and coaching instruction.

Events

How many people are required to book a private event?

The minimum requirement to book a private event is 6 participants everyday except Saturday, which is 8 participants unless otherwise specified. This guarantees a comfortable number of people to run  the round-robin and tournament while still providing a nice mix of throwing and socializing.

If that doesn’t work for you, no worries, try one of our drop-in times!

Do I need AXE throwing experience?

The simple answer is NO. Our trained coaches will facilitate your AXE throwing experience in a fun and safe environment. Every participant is given one-on-one training, expert guidance, and ongoing instruction. Our Coaches will have you sticking the axe, nailing bulls-eyes and high-fiving!

Do you supply the axes?

Yes, we have a full arsenal of one-piece, steel forged axes and knives for your throwing pleasure. You will have the opportunity to throw these at Private Events, Drop-Ins, and a wider variety during our awesome League.

Does the private event champion win something?

In addition to bragging rights for years to come… we have hilarious gag certificates for the top 3 contenders. We also carry AXE branded clothing, gift cards, and of course, a variety of premium axes and knives for purchase.

What kind of people book AXE throwing events?

AXE throwing is an ideal event catering to Corporate Functions, Birthday Parties, STAGs, Family and Friend Outings, and everything in between. The relaxed, fun and competitive nature fosters team building, good times, and lots of laughs.

What skill level is League competition?
